How to Train Corporate on Social Media: One Approach

Mashable has noticed an interesting approach to training employees on using social media. The company, Telstra has put together a guide to social media and posted it online. The use a comic book format to discuss Facebook and MySpace.

The format is interesting and it seems easy enough to go through. It also has embedded video that is available on YouTube.

It is certainly worth a closer look. I haven't dug into the actual instructional design and I don't know if they really address using social media as part of their work or it is more a "guidance" or "governance" training, trying to ensure the employees are not doing improper things.

New Communication on the Web - Google Chat Video

I just tried video chat on Google and it was easy and cool. It worked really well. I think this is another important step to improved communication on the web. I really need to get a laptop with an integrated camera and mic. I wonder if this is enough justification to get a new Mac laptop? It will also be interesting to see if you can embed a chat module into other pages like Blogger and Google Sites. Time to experiment.

'Hey Ya' Typography Animation

This is a really cool video that is playing on a really cool video service. This is the future of learning content. It is a mashup of a cover song with Flash technology presented in a social medium that allows you to participate. Create a tag or leave a comment and everyone who wants to will see it.

This fits David Wiley's future story of how everything will be anotated by the learners. It's here, we just have to use it. Every presentation intended to educate should be available in this format.
