OpenID has continued to gain support according to the ReadWriteWeb blog.Why is this important? As more and more applications join the movement to have a third party identity system it will be much easier to maintain your identity across the web. For example, I would guess that I have literally signed up for over 50 to 75 web services in the last 10 years. It would be nice to be able to tell all of them my email is now leekraus at gmail.com instead of leekraus at yahoo.com, which it was for years. Maintaining your identity at a third party host will allow this.

Also, just to note... all our new elearning web-services moving forward will support OpenID. I immediately wanted to extend OpenID as a learning portfolio tool, but our discussions pushed me to believe that, just like RSS is to Learning Objects, like OpenID is to electronic portfolios. Maybe we can explore this in another post.
This would be wonderful. I'm in the midst of the change over happening when suddenlink purchased charter and now have to change my email address with literally hundreds of registrations along with contacting all my contacts about the change.
