Google Latitude

I have been playing with Google Latitude, but the fact that they don't have an iphone app is a real pain. You actually have to open the browser to get it to pick up your location and there is no other reason to go to that page. That isn't very practical. They should connect it to something else, that you actually use, like gmail.

I am looking for a solution for my Dad. Does the Droid automatically update latitude? If so how often? Every X minutes? Can you set it?
